Old CEDAR Inn in Garden City

Having spent many summers throughout my life in Garden City, Old Cedar Inn is one of the few places I'll go out of my way to eat at when I'm back in the Midwest. While the food is good, though not fantastic, it is the nostalgia and the service that I go for

Use to love this place then they changed the wait staff and the service went completely downhill and just ruined the eating experience.

I have always liked this place at least at breakfast time, they have really good portions, you never wait too long even when it's busy

Heading down to Branson or Arkansas we always stop by for breakfast best place best food best meat bacon sausage ham is all very good. Should try the meat lovers omelette number one

Disappointed with the food and the service. Ordered a breakfast sandwich with egg, cheese and sausage and they brought out thin bread with half a slice of american and some sausage patty plus a bag of chips(for breakfast??). Nor were they apologetic for the display and just brought out an egg to make up for this 6 dollar meal that was not even eaten.

Not bad food and good size portions. Very clean but the host was not as friendly as I believe she needs to be!

The tables were a bit dirty when I went to have early breakfast, but the service was great and the food was delicious. A nice small town diner.

The food was small town amazing! Meat lovers omelette w/potatoes, chicken tenders, chocolate cream pie and peanut butter pie topped off the perfect lunch!

I have eaten at this restaurant for over 15 years and have never left hungry. Breakfast or or dinner is always good.

A bit pricey but the service is excellent and the food was good and hot and there was enough to take some home for later.

The bake potato was cold and the hamburger steak as asked to be well done but was very hard.

We've come to this restaurant for years as a family. The recent new owners, apparently need to figure out how to run a restaurant correctly. We came here for the unlimited Fried Chicken, which was good when we got it. The only problem was, is that everything was cold. The chicken was cold, the mashed potatoes were cold, the green beans were cold. The salad bar was ok, but it was self serve. After an hour of waiting we had to ask for our own refills and more chicken. After 2 hours of sitting here, we still never got our dessert in the end, and we were ready to leave. Most of my family has come to this restaurant for years, its very likely we will not be back.

Haven't been here in a couple years and soon as I walked thru the I knew something was different. It wasn't wall to wall people like it used to be and looked like new staff but I figured we would give it a chance. I noticed right away the two girls working was rude and very slow. I mean I never in my whole life seen anything like these girls.Got the menus and noticed all the prices changed, way over priced. Only thing good I can say is the food wasn't too bad. I had an omelette that was good. My wife had biscuits and gravy which was a little bland and old biscuits. My son just had a walfle and ya can't really mess that up. Needless to say we won't be going back.

So disappointed. Since changing owners this place has really gone down hill. Salad bar was terrible, lettuce, cucumber, egg, cheese, no onion, no tomato, poor choices of dressing, just sad. Ordered the special that night, chicken fried steak. Came out very quick because it was "instant" heat and eat stuff. Won't be going back, miss the real Old Cedar Inn.

Best American traditional breakfast around, and the pricing is very reasonable.

Good food. Huge portions. The downside, though, is that ALL the waitresses are 15 years old highschool girls. In my opinion.... That's a lil weird. Not a single guy working there except the owner. On top of that, none of the waitresses seen to know how to do their job. They couldn't even tell me what some of the meals were.

We always stop for lunch on our way to Branson. Huge portions of delicious food and some friendly pretty wait staff. Always look forward to stopping here.

Best variety of dining options in Garden city. Smoke free, family friendly. Salad bar and sundae bar. Good homemade pies. Fast kitchen. Service is OK. Has seating to accommodate large group. Didn't like the green beans. Good hamburger. When I went they advertise Thursday special all you can eat catfish, Friday all you can eat fried chicken. Kids get large portions. Several fries options. No fresh fruit. They also sell Missouri Lottery. Quiet dinner experience (music is low). Clean bathroom. I'll go back. You won't leave hungry.

This was a gathering of motorcycle riders. about 80 bikes showed up and they handled it great. Good service, good food.

This place reminded me of my childhood in the 60's. It's not trendy, but a lot like the old "Happy Days" café. I expected the Fonze to walk in. Try the Double Cheeseburger and the sides will not dissapoint!

This is Hometown cooking at its best!! Professional Waitstaff and knowledgeable, but our compliments to the Cook!!! Thank you for an awesome dining experience! Puts the competition to shame!!!

Food over priced staff is very rude

We had wonderful food but the people who bought the old cedar inn are having problems with people who don't like there race.!!!!!!! An the father served our country an his son is now an they deserve respect they live here an are americans an good people. So please go an eat there in garden city mo.

Great food, but no advertising. Found it by just driving, need to advertise food, I thought it was a hotel

Love this place I just wish restaurants would teach their cooks how to fry a medium egg.
